How Does Relative Humidity Affect Your Health?: Part 1

Dehumidifiers are crucial for maintaining the humidity level in your home, but how much does humidity matter?

Well, humidity can actually play a huge role in your health and the health of your family. In reality, extreme humidity, either high or low, can increase the distribution of airborne pollutants (illnesses, allergens, chemicals, etc.). All of these factors have what is called an “ideal relative humidity level” that will minimize growth. Most of the time, this level should remain between 40-60% with regards to the level inside your home. When the humidity inside your home goes above 60%, you’ll probably be uncomfortable, but, more importantly, more likely to experience unfavorable conditions.

 

In closing today’s portion of our week-long discussion, it is important to maintain optimal humidity levels in your home as a preventative measure to help safeguard against the distribution and growth of indoor air pollutants.
