Don’t Just Roll the Dice. Make an Educated Decision

If you have to make a big decision, how do you go about making it? I’m sure you don’t leave it to chance. So, when it comes to hiring the right contractor for your Home Improvement project, don’t leave the decision to a toss of the dice.
When you are in the market for a Home Improvement contractor, you’ll probably talk to a few contractors and may even have a couple of those companies come out to talk with you and take a look at your project. But how do you know which contractor to hire?
I’ve heard the old method “throw out the lowest bid because that’s a guy working for beer money” and “throw out the highest bid because that guy is in over his head and trying to pay off debts”. Now, I’m not so sure if these statements are true or not. I can tell you, however, that there are a few things to do when making your selection.
First, you should listen to what each contractor is telling you….and NOT telling you. Pay attention to the questions each contractor asks you (IF they ask you any questions). You should be able to make an educated decision when you look at the proposals you have received.
Second, pay attention to just how much time each contractor spent looking at your job. Contractors who rush in, scribble a dollar amount on the back of a business card and rush out, may not be the best contractor to work with.
Third, take a look at what is listed on the proposal. Do you have adequate information for making an educated decision? Can you conduct an apples to apples comparison between your proposals?
At Weatherization Plus, we believe in giving our customers the information needed to make an educated decision. If your contractor didn’t do that, maybe it’s time to talk to the professionals at Weatherization Plus! After all, you DO deserve the very best!
